GOOD LUCK BABY BABY… B’ BABY BABY

The birth of a child and its entrance into the family is most often a wonderful blessing.  However, it’s rarely without its challenges—especially to sleep.  In the past, before the incredible advances we have behind us in modern medicine, faith for a newborn’s well being was often placed in the hands of the divine, manifested in symbols and amulets meant to bring good fortune and ward off evil spirits.

These amulets are meant to protect a mother and her new child.  They’re decorated with a variety of familiar Jewish motifs and symbols, as well as with prayers and textual references.  Yet, in spite of their profoundly important purpose, they’re also stunning art pieces.
